E-Way Bill Portal Enhancements Advisory
The GSTN has issued an advisory to taxpayers and stakeholders detailing upcoming functional enhancements to the E-Way Bill (EWB) system. These changes are aimed at bolstering data quality, improving traceability, and increasing operational efficiency within the system.
Proposed Key Changes:
- Mandatory "Ship-To GSTIN" Capture: For Bill-To Ship-To transactions, it will become mandatory to capture the "Ship-To GSTIN". This measure is designed to enhance data accuracy and traceability of goods movement.
- Introduction of EWB Closure Functionality: A new feature will be introduced allowing taxpayers to voluntarily close E-Way Bills under specific circumstances. This functionality provides greater flexibility in managing EWB lifecycles.
Implementation and Preparedness:
The advisory also outlines the proposed timelines for implementing these changes and specifies necessary actions for stakeholders. Taxpayers and system providers are advised to undertake the required system modifications and preparatory activities to ensure a smooth transition.
